Frequently Asked Questions
Why are there pits, pores, or cracks in the stone?
Granite is a natural product of nature and is subject to variations in colors, shades and grain structure of the stone. Pitting and veining are natural occurrences in stone. Pits or pores are formed from small air pockets when the stone cooled and are common in many natural stone products. Veining adds character and beauty to the stone and sometimes is mistaken for cracks or imperfections in the stone.
Is Granite Porous?
Yes, granite is porous. Our Granite vanity tops are sealed at the factory with a penetrating sealer that impregnates the stone to make it moisture resistant. However, customers are recommended to make sure their granite is resealed at the time of installation before it is used and as often as desired thereafter. Sealing granite is as easy as washing dishes and only requires a few minutes time.
What are seams?
When two pieces of granite are connected, an epoxy resin is used to make a permanent bond between the two pieces. When designing your new kitchen counter, you should have the designer show you where the seams will be located. Seams are usually located on each side of all corners.
Will our granite have matching identical colors?
No. We guarantee our granite is a natural stone and no two pieces will have matching identical colors, unless they are cut from exactly the same stone. Each stone will have its own unique color and grain pattern. We try to use colors that are similar and match as closely as possible, but granite is unique natural stone and will differ in some way.
Is Granite warranted after installation?
At the time of the installation the customer inspects the workmanship and signs a certificate of completion. Our company has no control of the final use and environment our product will be used. The end user, purchaser or specifier assumes all responsibility for the condition of the product and its performance once ownership has passed from our company to the customer.
