Vanity Installation
Installation Instructions - Vanity Tops
Step 1: Prepare Vanity Cabinet
- Clean cabinet top of debris.
- Level vanity cabinet, side-to-side, front to back, diagonally.
- Shim as required to level the cabinet.
- Secure vanity cabinet to the wall.
- Trial fit stone top, back and end splashes on vanity cabinet to ensure correct size.
- If vanity cabinet is constructed with a frameless design add front and back rails as required to prevent the stone vanity top from bowing in the middle. Natural stone is heavy and requires adequate support.
Step 2: Attach undermount bowl to Stone Top
Place granite vanity top polished side down on soft, scratch free surface.
- Clean dust and foreign particles from underside of granite vanity top.
- Unpack undermount bowl and place next to granite vanity top.
- 17 x 14-inch oval undermount bowl is included with each order.
- Install bowl per manufacturer’s instructions.
- Mounting clips for the under mount bowl are designed to be used with a urethane adhesive to permanently bond the bowl to the granite vanity top.
- Adhesive should be construction grade specifically designed for stone products equivalent to PL Premium Polyurethane Construction Adhesive.
- Align under mount bowl on bottom of granite vanity top with pre-cut hole.
- Use bowl as a template to draw line around the outside edge of the pre-cut hole as a guideline to mount the bowl after the adhesive is applied.
- Remove bowl and apply a continuous bead of adhesive approximately 3/8 inch in the caulking channel on the top side of the bowl.
- Immediately place bowl in position and align with the center line of the pre-cut hole.
When the bowl is accurately aligned, tighten bolts into threaded inserts for the mounting clips to tighten under mount bowl to granite vanity top.
- Do not over tighten.
- Clean excess adhesive from bowl and granite vanity top.
- Allow adhesive to dry according to adhesive manufacturer’s instructions.
Step 3: Seal bowl and install top on vanity cabinet
After the adhesive is dry, apply clear silicone or acrylic latex caulk to the outside edge of the bowl where it makes contact with the bottom side of the granite vanity top to seal the bowl from moisture penetration.
- Use damp sponge to wipe away excess caulk and smooth the finish line.
- Install the faucet according to the faucet manufacturer’s instructions.
- Apply 1/4-inch bead of clear acrylic latex caulk to the top edges of the vanity cabinet.
- Turn the granite vanity top over and place it on the cabinet with a 1/2-inch overlap on each side.
- Wipe away excess caulk and allow to dry according to caulk manufacturer’s instructions.
Step 4: Install back and side splashes
- Clean back and end splash of all dust or foreign particles.
- Place urethane adhesive on unpolished side of back splash.
- Place a 3/8-inch bead of clear silicone or acrylic latex caulk on granite vanity top edge where back splash is to be located.
- Place unpolished edge of back splash on caulk and press gently against wall and down on to the granite vanity top. Move side to side to spread the adhesive evenly.
- Bottom of the backsplash should lay flat or be flush with the top of the granite vanity top.
- Remove all excess caulk and clean with a soft cloth or sponge.
- Allow caulk to dry according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Repeat the above steps for installation of the side splash.
- Note: Walls may be uneven and create a slight gap between the wall and the back or end splash. Do not force or pressure the stone to straighten the wall. Fill gap with acrylic latex caulk
